The Bicton Overseas Agricultural Trust (BOAT) is a charity which aims to improve agricultural business practices in the developing world. For the last 13 years with the vital help from Chris Jaworski of Bicton College and Bicton students they have undertaken a tractor rebuild, using parts donated by leading aftermarket parts supplier Vapormatic. The tractor is then raffled off around the country to raise funds for the charity.

This year’s tractor, known as ‘Gretel’, was a 1962 Massey Ferguson 35 Petrol model and has been restored with over £3,000’s worth of Vapormatic new parts. ‘Gretel’ was presented to the lucky new owner, Mr Simon Browning from Redditch, Worcestershire at Carpenter & Goodwin’s store in Leominster, a leading Vapormatic stockist in the area.

This year’s tractor raffle raised over £12,000 for the charity. Simon bought his lucky ticket at the Malvern Tractor World show back in March 2014 and intends to take ‘Gretel’ on Road runs and shows in the future.

Nickolas Dicks, Vapormatic Marketing Manager said “It was a pleasure to present Simon with the tractor and to congratulate BOAT and Bicton College on another successful year of fund raising.”

Chairman of Boat Bill Vellacott said, “I am delighted that this year’s tractor has found a good home and extend BOAT’s grateful thanks for the tremendous support received once again this year.  I would particularly like to thank Vapormatic, Firestone and Bicton College for their fantastic sponsorship which together with our raffle ticket buyers have helped raise more than £170K over the years. ”

Second prize of £250 goes to Mr Peter Bidder from Cheriton Bishop and Third prize of £100 goes to Mr H Henwood from Hale in Cornwall.
