Vapormatic Photo Competition off to a Flying Start

The Vapormatic Photo Competition has proved an instant success with visitors to the website. In this first review we take a look at just a few of the entries submitted so far.

A month in

Photo Competition

The Vapormatic Photo Competition, in association with Tractor and Machinery magazine, has now been running for a month and we thought we would take the opportunity to review some of the entries so far. Every single entry submitted has been reviewed and the overall standard has been very high - and we would expect nothing less!

From the straightforward to the sublime, entrants have not been afraid to let their imagination show through in their images. We have picked a few of the most interesting sent to us during February which you can see below.

 Modern

Claas Lexion 570

First off we'll take a look at the entries to the Modern category. tommyclark has sent in a wonderful shot of a Claas Lexion 570 taking a well earned break from harvesting to sit in the sunshine.

Describing it as resting beneath an 'epic sky', tommyclark has certainly captured the wonderful landscape in which it works as well as demonstrating the size of the combine within it.

Hydraulic Attachment
john.byers has opted for a different approach and has decided to focus on the detail. Exploiting light and shadow, this brightly colourful image of a hydraulic hose attachment shows us that even parts of a tractor we take for granted are as intricate and interesting as the machine as a whole.

Classic

Massey Ferguson 135
This is a category that has all the potential for romantic imagery and Tim Best has not let us down. This black and white picture of a Massey Ferguson 135 combines stark contrasting with subtle focusing to create a scene that sets you imagination running.

Vintage

Seen better days

Sadly the fate of many a tractor over the years, tizzylizzie shows us a machine that clearly needs a bit of TLC. We have identified it as being a Ferguson TEF20, a tractor that was in production from 1951 to 1956.

Free Subject

Sheep Shearing
Patricia Martin makes you feel part of the action with these shepherds. Keen viewers will notice the herd of goats in the background! Vapormatic is known all over the world for its quality parts and we welcome entries from any corner of the globe.

Deer

You'll have to be up early in the morning to capture a shot such as Sarah Thorne's. These two deer wandering in the low shadows of a late summer morning certainly look striking. The warm colours remind us in these winter months of the wonderful weather yet to come!

The Year Ahead

As we begin to look to the Spring for ever more exciting photographic opportunities don't forget to check your camera for winter images. We want to see all weather, all conditions, all locations, all styles and all types of machinery. Remember there are £2,500 worth of prizes up for grabs!

Until next time,

The Vapormatic Photo Competition Team.
