Vapormatic, the worlds leading alternative tractor parts supplier, has recently invested in excess of £100,000 in its Exeter warehousing and office facilities to improve operational performance.

The most significant part of this investment focused on reducing the company's carbon footprint and energy costs and included a series of initiatives to intelligently and proactively reduce its energy consumption.

The warehouse project encompassed a completely new, state of the art warehouse lighting system which will reduce the company's energy consumption by around 20%. This intelligent system uses a combination of light and movement sensors to determine when lights need to be activated and assesses the level of natural light to establish the brightness of lighting required.

The system not only adapts to natural light levels, but movement sensors activate the lights only when it detects a presence nearby and means unoccupied parts of the warehouse are not using energy unnecessarily.

Richard Lovemore, Operations Manager is impressed with the new system and described it as "not only a more powerful, clearer lighting solution than the previous system, but more efficient, with a longer life expectancy and reduced maintenance. So it's better for the environment, helps us improve the light quality of our working areas and enhances productivity due to reduced interruptions in our operations."
