The British Tractor Challenge 2006:
Vapormatic are the proud sponsors of the British Tractor Challenge 2006. This quality event is an opportunity for anyone to take part in this country's BIGGEST tractor rally and get into the Guinness World Records at the same time. All tractors are welcome, whether they are vintage, classic, or brand new. And everyone is welcome to see the incredible site of 2006 tractors all working at the same time. The aim is simply to organise the biggest tractor rally this county has ever seen and show how much passion is still out in the farming community.
The challenge is to have 2006 working tractors moving at the same time. This has never been done in this country before. As you can imagine this is going to be a colossal undertaking, but the official organizers are confident that the current record of 1901 tractors can be beaten and that the record can be held on British soil for some time. This is a non-profit making undertaking and all profits made will be divided between Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Wales Air Ambulance. The event will be taking place on the 24th – 25th June 2006 and will be held at Hullavington, about one mile from Junction 17 of the M4.
The idea of working tractors is by no means a new one and has been around for many years. In April 1999 at Sandstone Estates, South Africa, 109 working tractors set the first Guinness book of records for working tractors. Two years later in Yass, Australia, this was smashed by more than double, and 298 tractors was now the new record to beat. Not to be out done South Africa replied with an aim of 400 tractors all working in a field at the same time. This total actually came in at 755 which really was an achievement. In August 2002 Ireland shattered the record by achieving 1832 tractors which have given the British a reel goal to beat. To add to this, in April 2004, Australia achieved an outstanding 1901 working tractors which is an amazing accomplishment. However, it is now time to show how alive and kicking the British Farming Community really is. With so many tractors and tractor enthusiasts being involved with such an event then it is no surprise that the leading genuine alternative spare parts company, Vapormatic, are sponsoring such an event.
