At the end of June we are sponsoring the British Tractor Challenge 2006. This major event is believed to be the country"s BIGGEST tractor rally, what"s more you have the opportunity to take part and help set a new Guinness World Record.

Tractors of all ages are welcome, be they vintage, classic or new. The aim is to have 2006 tractors all working together at the same time, and everyone is welcome to witness what will be an incredible sight. As well as being the biggest tractor rally this country has ever seen, the event will also demonstrate the passion and self-belief that is still within the British farming community.

To secure the world record there have to be 2006 tractors working, (with a ground engaging implement), at the same time. As you can imagine the logistics and planning for such an event is a huge undertaking. The official organisers are confident that the current record of 1901 tractors can be beaten and that the record can be held on British soil for some time. The event is being organised on a non-profit making basis with any money raised being divided between the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Wales Air Ambulance. The event is taking place on the 24th – 25th June 2006 and will be held at Hullavington, Wilts close to Junction 17 of the M4 motorway.

The idea of a world record for working tractors is not a new one and has been around for several years. The first world record for working tractors was set in April 1999 at Sandstone Estates, South Africa, with 109 working tractors. Two years later in Yass, Australia, 298 working tractors doubled the record. Not to be out done South Africa replied with the aim of having 400 tractors all working at the same time. On the day they surpassed their own target by having 755 tractors working. In August 2002 the record was shattered in Ireland by 1832 tractors. The record was further extended in April 2004, when Australia achieved an outstanding total of 1901 working tractors, which remains an amazing accomplishment.

Hopefully June 2006 will see the British Farming Community rise to the challenge and set a new world record. Supporting this type of event provides us with an opportunity to give something back to a wide range of users of our genuine alternative tractor parts. Some of which are being used on Tractors that are more than fifty [50] years old.

Publicity for the event is being provided across the UK via our network of eighty [80] parts stockists and distributors. Check out the website listing to find your nearest stockist.

As part of the event sponsorship we are providing parts for a 24-hour tractor rebuild in conjunction with Lackham College, Wilts. Parts from across our diverse portfolio will be used for this rebuild of a Fordson Power Major, and will range from the exhaust pipe to the crankshaft kit and from the headlights to the paint finish.

It is expected that participants for the British Tractor Challenge 2006 will come from across the UK and Europe, for more information on the event please visit http://www.tractorchallenge2006.co.uk/ or for an application form visit  http://www.tractorchallenge2006.co.uk/print-entryform.php
