Bicton College & Vapormatic 24 hour Tractor Rebuild
Engineering students from Bicton College worked through the night to completely refurbish the 1963 Super Dexta with the help of Engineering lecturer, Chris Jaworski.
A big congratulations to everyone who took part in the Fordson Super Dexta 24 hour rebuild on Saturday 31st March and Sunday 1st April in aid of the BOAT charity.
Engineering students from Bicton College worked through the night to completely refurbish the 1963 Super Dexta with the help of Engineering lecturer, Chris Jaworski. Supporters from Boat, Bicton College, Vapormatic and the student's parents were on hand on the day to offer encouragement to the rebuild team, especially as the day wore on and things didn't always go quite to plan!
However, the rebuild was a fantastic success for everyone involved and the excellent teamwork and motivation of the students helped them to finish the rebuild at 9.30am - two and a half hours before the 12pm deadline. This gave the students enough time to take the tractor for a ride around the block before having a slice of celebratory cake!
The tractor will now be visiting many of the local and national agricultural shows around the UK and Ireland before it is raffled off at the National Tractor show in Peterborough on the 4th November. If you would like to purchase a raffle ticket in aid of BOAT, please contact Bill Vellacott on 01884 277329 or email bv@woodbeer.eclipse.co.uk
About BOAT
The Bicton Overseas Agricultural Trust (BOAT) was formed in 1991 as a charity by Devon farmers to enable men and women from developing countries to study practical agriculture, rural skills and food processing by attending specially designed short programmes of instruction at Bicton College. By returning home as better equipped trainers, they are able to pass on their skills and knowledge to their communities which will create a brighter future for generations to come.
