A team of walkers has recently completed the infamous 3 Peaks Challenge in aid of Exeter and East Devon Sports for the Disabled.
The gruelling event challenges teams to climb the 3 highest mountain peaks in the UK; Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in only 24 hours.
A brisk pace and a huge amount of stamina was needed to complete the challenge, and although not everyone managed to stay the course the team managed to raise over £700 for the charity which provides opportunities for disabled people in the area to enjoy a wide range of sporting activities including swimming, sailing and wheelchair basketball.
Three members from Vapormatic's Marketing department, Nick Dicks, Stephen Russell and Ben Wright stepped up to the mark and despite atrocious conditions completed the event well under the 24 hour time limit. The team from Exeter completed over 26 miles of mountain walking and totalled over 1,500 miles of travelling.
Much of the sponsorship came from the staff of Vapormatic and Beckworth Associates and we would like to extend a huge thank you to all those who supported the event.
Trevor Milford, chairman of the charity says, "I accompanied the team on the challenge and saw the effort and aching limbs experienced. Without support like this we would not be able to continue with many of our activities. We are extremely grateful to all our supporters, especially Vapormatic for organising it".
